POLICE have evacuated a number of businesses have been evacuated in Omagh after a suspicious object was found close to the Strule Arts Centre.

High Street, George’s Street and Bridge Street have been closed to traffic.

Police have advised the public to avoid the town centre during the operation.

Last Friday, the arts centre was at the centre of another bomb alert as it hosted a PSNI recruitment event.

The meet and greet event went ahead after a police search found nothing untoward.
