HALLOWE’EN CRACKER AS BELFAST GIANTS FACE FIFE FLYERS AT THE ODYSSEY

Belfast Giants v Steelers at the weekend

THE STENA LINE Belfast Giants hope to put on a display of a different kind as they face Fife tonight at the Odyssey arena.

As bangers and rockets whizz off into the night sky, the Giants are planning on letting off a few fireworks on the ice.

The defending Elite League Champions know that a win this evening could see the team regain top spot in the Elite League.

The team are currently trailing the Nottingham Panthers and the Sheffield Steelers by a single point.

This evening’s game will also count towards the Challenge Cup Standings with a Giants win moving them into second place in Challenge Cup Group A, only one point behind the Braehead Clan with three games in hand.

With Fife currently lying in second place in Challenge Cup Group A, tonight’s Hallowe’en clash is set to be explosive as both teams battle it out for a spot in the knockout rounds of the Cup.

It will be the first time the Scottish team will visit Belfast in the 2012/13 Elite League season.

They last met in September when the Giants slayed Fife 3-1 in their Scottish back yard.

Netbusters came from defenceman Will Colbert and forwards Andrew Fournier and Daymen Rycroft with Rycroft assisting the first two goals in a Man of the Match performance.

Giants helped their cause with a win against the Sheffield Steelers at the weekend.

Face-off tonight is 7.30pm and some good tickets are still available at the Odyssey box office.
