The Titanic Visitor Centre in east Belfast celebrates its first birthday this weekend

TITANIC Belfast is celebrating its first birthday this weekend with a programme of events, including its Easter celebrations.

The visitors centre opened its doors in 2012 and is the largest Titanic visitors experience in the world.

It has welcomed more than 700,000 visitors from over 128countries.

From Thursday 28 March the centre will be holding a ‘Get the Message’ workshop, which allows families to learn about learning about traditional communication methods.

It will be also be hosting a programme of extra special events on 31 March, with activities including street performers, talents from the T13 Skate Park, and the Silk Aerial Acrobats, who will be suspended 70ft above the giant Atrium.

Easter Sunday will be celebrated with a special Easter buffet lunch in the Titanic Suite and the Britannic Suite, with activities for the children.

Titanic Belfast first opened its doors in April 2012 and the total cost of the project was in excess of £100m.

It is the most expensive tourism project ever completed in Northern Ireland.

The venue has nine galleries of interactive exhibition space, including a dark ride, underwater exploration theatre, recreations of the ship’s decks and cabins and a conference and banqueting suite with capacity for up to 1000 people.
