BAIL was refused during a court appearance on Saturday to two men charged with dealing in £618,000 worth of drugs .

The huge haul of herbal cannabis was seized by the PSNI’s Organised Crime Branch during a planned covert surveillance operation this week.

The drugs were seized when OCB detectives stopped two cars in Antrim on Thursday.

A district judge was told at Ballymena Magistrates’ Court that the drugs were found in a Chrysler Voyager.

It was being driven at the time by 50-year-old Noel Phillip Morrison of Glenmore Walk, Glengormley.

A short time later OCB officers stopped a second car on suspicion of being involved in the drug deal.

Detectives arrested Paul Robert Lemon from Seven Mile Straight, Crumlin, Co Antrim.

Morrison and 53-year-old taxi driver Lemon were remanded in custody to Maghaberry prison until next month.
