DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch have arrested a man over a pipe bomb attack on police.

The man, in his 40s, was arrested today in Strabane, Co Tyrone, and taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Antrim PSNI Station for questioning.

The device was thrown at a police patrol in the Ballycolman estate on November 16.

After it failed to explode, it was lifted by a member of the public who moved it to an area of waste ground in a former Adria factory site.

Following a controlled explosion by army bomb disposal experts the device was declared a viable pipe bomb.
