COMMUNITY SERVICE FOR WOMAN CONVICTED OF £33,500 BENEFIT FRAUD

LA WOMAN was ordered to do 200 hours community service when she appeared in court today charged with wrongly obtaining benefits totaling £33,576.

Mary Gormley (49), of Quarry Street in the Brandywell area of Derry, claimed Income Support, Housing Benefit and Jobseekers Allowance while failing to declare employment.

The offences occurred between 5 July, 2006 and 6 November, 2012.

She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency
