LOYALISTS BLAMED FOR PETROL BOMB ATTACK ON EAST BELFAST PSNI STATION

Willowfield psni stationDETECTIVES are investigating after two petrol bombs were thrown at Willowfield Police Station in east Belfast last night.

It is believed loyalists were behind the dead of night attack.

Sources said “other attacks” were planned on PSNI stations and police personnel for enforcing the Parades Commission determination to ban a feeder parade past the Ardoyne shop fronts.

The devices were thrown at Willowfield station from the direction of Willowfield Drive at around 11.40 pm on Sunday, July 13.

No damage was caused during the attack.

Anyone who was in the Willowfield Drive or Woodstock Road areas between 11.30pm and 11.45pm last night and who noticed any suspicious activity is asked to contact detectives on the non-emergency number 101.
