BERTS Jazz Bar will be one the of first bars in the world where guests can follow in the famous French tradition and uncork this year’s new vintage Beaujolais Nouveau 2014 when it is released as the clock strikes midnight on Thursday November 20.

According to French law, Beaujolais Nouveau cannot be sold earlier than the third Thursday of November and the day is marked in France and around the world with much fanfare including fireworks and music festivals.

Wine lovers can be among the first in the world to enjoy a glass or two of the fruity, young wine as Berts Jazz Bar joins the celebrations and uncorks the wine at one minute past midnight on Thursday.

Lucy McConville, Manager of Berts Jazz Bar is delighted to offer customers the new wine.

“Berts Jazz Bar will be the first bar in Northern Ireland this year to enable wine lovers to join millions of people from around the world to celebrate the uncorking of this year’s first, new vintage wine.

“The tradition started as a way to celebrate the end of the harvest in the French regions of Beaujolais and Lyons and continues to this day with over 100 festivals in the Beaujolais alone.

“All the grapes used in the production of Beaujolais Nouveau wine must be handpicked and it is bottled only weeks after the grapes are harvested which produces a light, fruity red wine, which is usually often served chilled.

“We hope people will call in on Wednesday night/ Thursday morning and in the run up to the Christmas period to crack open a bottle to celebrate the arrival of the new wine and the festive season.”
