POLICE PROBE SPATE OF BURGLARIES IN SOUTH BELFAST

Police car collectDETECTIVES are investigating seven burglaries/attempted burglaries in the Ormeau Road area of south Belfast.

A PSNI spokesman said: “Yesterday, (Monday 01st December) we received seven reports of burglaries/attempted burglaries in the Ormeau Road area.

“The first report related to a burglary from a commercial premises in the Ormeau Road area which occurred some time between 5.00pm on Sunday 30th November and 9.00am on Monday 01 December.

“At around 9.37am we received a report from a further commercial premises on the Ormeau Road that the door to the property had been damaged and entry gained between 4.00pm on Saturday 29th November and 9.37am on Monday 1st December. A sum of cash and products valued at over a thousand pounds were taken.

“At 9.45am and 12.55pm two business properties reported attempted break ins.

“At 3.27pm a further business reported entry had been gained to their premises via the back door and a sum of money was taken. It is believed that this happened between 5.10am and 5.53am on Monday 1st December.

“Two further reports were then received from commercial premises, stating that their properties had been broken into and sums of cash taken from each.
