FAST FOOD SHOP HELD UP AT KNIFEPOINT

Police sceneDETECTIVES in Newtownabbey are appealing for information following a robbery at a fast food restaurant.

It happened in the Church Road area on the evening of Tuesday 2nd December.

According to police, a masked man entered the restaurant just before 5pm armed with a machete type knife.

Said Detective Inspector David Skelly: “He jumped over the counter and took the drawer from the till. The till drawer was dropped inside the premises as he made off empty handed, running towards Rathcoole estate.

“He was described as being in his 20’s, of slim build and was wearing dark clothing and a mask.

“An elderly female customer who was pushed over during the incident received medical treatment for severe shock.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information is asked to contact CID in Newtownabbey on 101.

“Information can also be passed anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
