MAN CHARGED OVER RIOTING IN EAST BELFAST

One police injured during rioting in south Belfast on St Patrick's Day

POLICE have arrested and charged an 18 year male with two counts of riotous behaviour.

The charges relate to public disorder on 26 and 29 October on the Newtownards Road and Castlereagh Street.

The male is scheduled to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on 29 December 2014.

As is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Commenting Chief Inspector David Moore, Area Commander for East Belfast says: ““We did advise the local community that there would be an investigation into the disorder and it was likely that a number of young people would be brought before the courts.

“This process is now ongoing.

“We are committed to keeping communities safe.”
