HIJACKING AND ROBBERY BID PROBE IN SOUTH BELFAST

musgrave psniDETECTIVES in south Belfast are investigating an attempted hijacking and an attempted robbery in the Ulsterville Gardens area just after 7 pm last night, Saturday 6 December.

Three males approached a man who was getting into a car and demanded his car keys and money.

An altercation ensued and the three culprits made off empty handed in the direction of Fane Street.

As a result the victim sustained head and facial injuries.

A short time later police arrested three males aged 25,22 and 20 years in the Donegal Avenue area on suspicion of attempted hi-jacking, attempted robbery and AOABH.

The 22 year man arrested has been taken to hospital for treatment for injuries he sustained during the initial incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Reid said, “I appeal to anyone who has information relating to this incident, or witnessed the incident to contact detectives at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide their information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
