EAST BELFAST MURDER PROBE: FIFTH PERSON BEING QUIZZED

Police crime scene picDETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team are questioning a fifth person over the fatal stabbing of a man in east Belfast at the weekend.

Police have named the victim as 21-year-old James Stitt, who was from the east Belfast area.

He was attacked in Castlereagh Place at about 10 pm on Saturday night following a domestic row

Det Ch Insp Alan Dickson of MIT Belfast Region said a 29-year-old woman was arrested on Monday and taken into custody for questioning.

Detectives are continuing to question three men aged 21, 25 and 31 and another woman aged 25.

Police said they were following a definite line of inquiry and have appealed for information about the attack.

Neighbours described the couple who live at the house as quiet and private people who have lived there for many years.

Emergency services tried to resuscitate the man on the pavement outside the house but he died a short time later.
