SECURITY ALERTS DECLARED HOAXES

Police scene armed copTWO separate security alerts today were found to be hoaxes, say the PSNI.

The security alert at Newtownbreda has now ended and shoppers have been allowed back to do their Christmas shopping in Tesco.

Inspector Martin Trainor confirmed that Army Technical Officers inspected a suspicious object and had declared it an elaborate hoax.

The Belvoir Road and Newtownbreda Road and nearby Tesco store have since been re-opened.

In south Derry, police and ATO also attend the scene of an alert.

Inspector Andy Archibald has now confirmed that the security alert at Ballynease Road in Bellaghy has now ended.

A suspicious object was examined by ATO and has been declared a hoax.

All roads have been re-opened.
