PSNI Chief Inspector Robert Murdie appeals for help over two arson attacks

DETECTIVES are appealing for information following three separate incidents of arson in south Belfast.

They happened in the early hours of Monday 29th December 2014 in the South Belfast area.

Area commander Chief Inspector Robert Murdie said: “At around 5.15am on Monday 29 December 2014, police received a report that an empty building in the Botanic Avenue area had been set alight.

“Shortly after 7.05 am Police received a report that Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service were dealing with a fire in a property in the Palestine Street area.

“A fire had started deliberately in a first floor bedroom.

“Shortly after 7.20am, there was a further report of an arson incident at a further property in the Palestine Street area.

“We would appeal to anyone who may have information relating to these incidents or who may have witnessed anyone acting suspiciously in the Palestine Street or Botanic Avenue area to contact detectives at Musgrave Station on 101.

“Alternatively information can be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
