DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Terrorist Investigation Unit have arrested a 53-year-old man this morning over the attempted murder of police officers.

The arrest is in connection with a gun attack by dissident republicans armed with high powered assault rifles as a police convoy drove up the Crumlin Road in north Belfast in December 2013.

The man was arrested in the north Belfast area under the Terrorism Act.

He has been taken to the serious crime suite in Antrim for questioning.

Three other men are currently remanded in custody over the attack.

They include leading north Armagh dissident republican Colin Duffy.

He was arrested following a long running covert surveillance operation on a park which had been strategically bugged by MI5.
