SUSPECT DEVICE IN NORTH BELFAST AN ‘ELABORATE HOAX’

BOMB SQUADARMY Technical Officers have declared a suspicious object found in north Belfast this morning as an “elaborate hoax”.

The object – described as a “crude looking device” – was found at a house on the Oldpark Road.

Police closed the Oldpark Road at its junction with the Cliftonville Road while ATO examined the device.

Roads in the area have now re-opened.

This morning’s alert comes less than a week after an under car booty trap bomb was found in nearby Linden Gardens.

It fell off the underside of a car belonging to a member of the security forces.
