MAN HELD AFTER COPS SMASH CANNABIS FACTORY

south belfast cannabis factoryPOLICE have dismantled a cannabis factory which was found in a shed last night.

PSNI officers removed over 100 plants from the premises on the Frosses Road in Ballymena.

A member of the public had alerted them to the drugs factory at around 11.30 pm.

A 47-year-old was arrested this morning around 10.30 am under the 1971 Misuse of Drugs Act in connection with the cannabis plant find.

Detective Sergeant Kelly Gallagher said he is being questioned on suspicion of cultivating cannabis, possession of a class B controlled drug with intent to supply, being concerned in the supply of class B controlled drug as well as a number of motoring offences.

“He currently remains in custody assisting police with their enquiries,” she added.
