SEVERAL families have been evacuated from their homes due to a security alert this morning.

A suspicious object has been found in an alleyway between Lancasterian Street and Albert Road in Carrickfergus.

The PSNI say say the area has been sealed off and a number of nearby properties have been “evacuated as a precaution”.

Army Technical Officers have been tasked to the scene.

There is no other details at present.
