Paul Quinn was beaten to death by an IRA gang in 2007

GARDA detectives investigating the brutal IRA murder of Paul Quinn have today arrested a man.

Paul Quinn was beaten to death in a shed on farmland in Castleblayney, Co Monaghan in October 2007.

An IRA lynch mob carried out the brutal attack.

This morning, Gardai swooped on an area of Castleblayney to carry out a search operation on lands as part of an “ongoing investigation” into Paul Quinn’s murder.

Gardai say a man in his early 50s was arrested during the operation under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

He has been taken to Carrickmacross Garda Station for questioning.

A Garda spokesman said: ”

“A search operation on lands near Castleblaney has also commenced as part of this phase of the investigation.

“No further information is available at this time.”

The family of Paul Quinn have campaigned since his murder for his IRA killers to be brought to justice.
