HANNA MOVES TO END BLOCKAGE IN NAMA INVESTIGATION

Clare Hanna 1DEPUTY Chairperson of the Finance Committee Claire Hanna MLA has moved to advance the investigation into the sale of the NAMA Northern Ireland property portfolio to Cerberus Capital Management.

During questions to the Finance Minister, Ms Hanna received assurances that no evidence would be withheld by the Department of Finance during the Committee’s investigation.

Claire Hanna said: “For too long the investigation into the NAMA sale has been stymied by a lack of cooperation including from the Department of Finance.

“Last year we had the farcical situation where the Permanent Secretary of the Finance Department was for whatever reason unable or unwilling to answer many of the Committee’s questions.

“I am pleased to say that the present Finance Minister, in a comprehensive answer, assured me that he is willing to co-operate with our investigation.

“The SDLP are committed to shining a light in every corner of this shady deal and flipping over every stone in our effort to get to the truth.

!As many of these stones lie within the Department of Finance then a vital first step was achieving the co-operation of the new Minister,” added the south Belfast MLA
