DETECTIVES have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 31-year-old man after an altercation in Belfast city centre.
The man died in hospital from injuries sustained in the altercation in the Donegall Street area shortly before 1 am, the PSNI said.
A 30-year-old man who was arrested at the scene remains in police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Geoffrey Boyce, who is leading the investigation, said: “We know there would have been quite a number of people in the Donegall Street area at the time of this incident.
“We are keen to speak with as many witnesses and passers-by as possible.
“The investigation team can be contacted by calling 101 quoting reference 94 02/04/17,” he added.
