BREAKING NEWS….CONTROLLED EXPLOSION CARRIED OUT IN WEST BELFAST

A CONTROLLED explosion has been carried out by Army bomb squad officers in west Belfast tonight.

The controlled explosion was carried out on a car in Azalea Gardens in Twinbrook.

The security alert is ongoing.

Meanwhile, a security alert which led to the evacuation of several homes in east Belfast has ended.

It was sparked by the discovery of a suspicious object on Cregagh Road.

A PSNI spokesperson said the object has been examined and was “declared to be nothing untoward”.

He added that the Ulster Rugby match at the nearby Kingspan Stadium was not affected by the alert.
