Teenager to face Belfast Magistrates’ Court today over blackmail plot

A 19 year old man has been charged by ‘The Untouchables’ crack police unit with blackmail, making threats to kill and making threats to damage property. 

He is expected to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court this morning for a first remand hearing.

As is usual procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

The charges follow an arrest in east Belfast yesterday under section 41 of the Terrorism Act.

He was detained by the PSNI’s newly formed Paramilitary Crime Task Force yesterday.

A vehicle was been seized as part of police enquiries.

And a number of further searches took place as part of the probe.
