FOUR MALES CHARGED OVER THEFT, HANDLING STOLEN GOODS AND DANGEROUS DRIVING

Police use one of its quad bikes help flush out thieves who stole £1,400 from a retail premises

FOUR males, aged 20, 20, 21 and 22, have been charged with dangerous driving, going equipped for theft, theft, handling stolen goods, no driving licence and using a motor vehicle without insurance. 

All four are expected to appear before Newtownards Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday 22 January.

The charges are in connection with an incident in Bangor yesterday evening, Monday 21 January, when police arrested four males seen acting suspiciously in the Balloo Link area of the town.

Police recovered a large quantity of suspected stolen hand tools during the incident.

PSNI Bangor said of the incident on its Facebook page: “Our District Support Team gave chase to a vehicle which was allegedly involved in a theft from a local retail premises.

“The vehicle stopped and 4 individuals ran from the car and onto the waste ground beside the Rathgael Road.

“Our Lenny dashed back and got the quad in order to get in and search for them.

“Half an hour later he flushed them out and we now have 4 individuals on their way to custody on suspicion of theft.

“In the boot of the car we recovered nearly £1,400 of suspected stolen goods.

“Great work from our support team, neighbourhood team and dog handler.”
