MAN TO FACE COURT AFTER WOMAN STABBED IN HER HOME

DETECTIVES have charge d a man after a woman was stabbed in her home.

The charge comes after detectives in Coleraine launched an investigation following the report of an assault on a female in the Shandon Park area of Ballymoney in the early hours of yesterday morning, Saturday, July 6.

The suspect has been man with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Detective Inspector Peter McKenna said: “We received the report that a woman had been stabbed by a man in her home in the Shandon Park area at around 1 am on Saturday morning.

“The woman’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.”

The man is due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 8 for a first remand hearing.

As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
