BODY OF MURDERED PAT MCCORMICK FOUND IN POLICE SEARCH

Detectives recovere remains of father of four Pat McCormick who was murdered after he disappeared in May

DETECTIVES investigating the murder of Pat McCormick have found his body in Ballygowan.

Detective Chief Inspector Pete Montgomery confirmed the body was that of Mr McCormick at a press conference this afternoon at PSNI headquarters this afternoon.

The 55-year-old father of four was last seen on Castle Street in Comber in County Down at about 10.30 pm on 30 May, driving his black car.

Searches for Mr McCormick, who is from nearby Saintfield, have been taking place around the Ards peninsula.

Police previously said thousands of hours of CCTV footage had been gathered as part of the investigation.

A man and woman in their 20s were arrested in June on suspicion of Mr McCormick’s murder but were later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Two other men arrested as part of the investigation were also released on bail.

Crimestoppers had offered a £10,000 reward in a bid to find his body and catch those who murdered him.

On Tuesday, detectives issued pictures of a blue Ford Transit van they believe was used to move Pat’s body from Comber to where it was found today.
