DETECTIVES from the PSNi’s Major Investgiation team have launched a murder inquiry tonight, Monday, August 19.

The police say that officers “are at the scene of a shooting incident in the Main Street area of Waringstown.

“Main Street has been closed and diversions are in place.

“There are no further details at this time.”

It is understood the male victim of the shooting is a well known loyalist in the area.

One line of inquiry for detectives is that man was the victim of a “criminal feud” and at this stage are not linking it to dissident republican terrorists.
