MAN CHARGED OVER CAR BOMB MURDER BID ON TOP COP

A 38 year old man has been charged with a murder bid on a senior PSNI officer at an east Belfast golf club.

The suspected was tonight charged with attempted murder, making explosives with intent to endanger life or cause serious injury to property and possessing explosives with intent to endanger life or cause serious injury to property.

He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Friday 13th September. As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.7

The charges are in relation to the attempted murder of a senior police officer at Shandon Park Golf Club in east Belfast on Saturday, June 1.

The device had been planted under the chief superintendent’s car parked in the driveway of his home in east Belfast.

He then drove to Shandon Park Golf Club on Saturday, June 1 where the device was later spotted under his Cherokee Jeep vehicle.
