DETECTIVES have charged a 26-year-old man with attempted murder.

It follows an incident in Newry, Co Down, on Monday, January 3.

He is due to appear before Newry Magistrates’ Court via videolink this morning, Wednesday, January 5, for a first remand hearing.

As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

The incident happened in the Windsor Manor area of the city.

The man who was injured in the assault was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries.
