DETECTIVES have charged a 48-year-old man has been charged over a ‘cold call’ racket.

He has been charged with five fraud offences and is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court sitting in Newtownards courthouse via videolink today, Tuesday, January 11.

The charges relate to an incident in the Newtownbreda area on Saturday, January 8 where individuals reported a cold caller at their property.

As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Investigations continue and detectives would appeal to anyone in the area, who may have encountered a cold caller at their door, to contact them on 101.
