OFFICERS from the PSNI’s Ballymena District Support Team have charged a 32-year-old man with drugs offences including attempting to import a controlled drug and possession of a class A controlled drug.

He is due to appear before Antrim Magistrates’ Court via videolink on Tuesday, January 18, for a first remand hearing.

As is usual procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

The charges relate to the seizure of suspected heroin following a proactive policing operation conducted by officers in the Ballymena area, a search of a property resulted in a quantity of suspected cocaine and heroin being seized.

A number of electronic devices and  cash were also recovered during the investigation.

A 42 year-old-woman arrested as part of the same operation on suspicion of various drugs offences has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
