A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a 37-year-old woman.
The victim’s body was found in a house in Church Street in Portadown after the police received a report of a fire at about 2.15 am on Tuesday, March 21.
One other person, believed to be a young girl, is in a stable condition in hospital.
The 25-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life.
Detective Chief Inspector Rachel Wilson, from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team, said: “Police received a report of a house fire in the Church Street area of Portadown at around 2.15am this morning, Tuesday, March 21.
“Officers attended alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.
“Sadly, a 37-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“We have now launched a murder investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.”
