ROADS CLOSED OVER BLAZE AT DERELICT BELFAST BUILDING

A NUMBER of roads haveĀ  been closed in Belfast city centre following a large fire at a derelict building in Samuel Street.

The NI Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) said it was alerted to the blaze at 2.40 am this morning, Wednesday, May 30, 2023.

Six fire appliances, two aerial appliances, 40 firefighters and eight officers attended the scene.

As a result of the fire, North Street, Millfield, Union Street, Royal Avenue, Gresham Street and Winetavern Street have been closed while crews tackle the blaze.

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area at this time and seek an alternative route for their journey if possible.
