Police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder following a serious assault in east Belfast yesterday evening, Thursday, February 29.

Detective Sergeant McAllister said: “At approximately 11.20pm police were called to a property in the Montrose Street area following the report of an injured woman.

“Officers attended and discovered a woman with serious injuries to her head and back.

“A man, aged 42 was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody at this time.

“Enquiries are ongoing and detectives would appeal to anyone with any information in relation to the incident to contact 101 quoting reference number 2205 of 29/02/2024.”
