Detectives have charged a 42-year-old man following a report of an injured woman in the Montrose Street area of east Belfast on Thursday evening, February 29.

The man has been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court this morning, Saturday, March 2 for a first remand hearing.

As is usual procedure all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
